Pompeii never stops to amaze: the latest discovery in chronological order is a large ceremonial chariot painted in red and covered in erotic-themed decorations, perhaps made for the cult of Ceres and Venus or more likely for an aristocratic wedding ceremony.

With four wheels, iron elements, beautiful bronze and tin decorations, wooden remains and imprints of organic elements (from ropes to remains of plant decorations), the cart was found almost intact in a portico. It was exactly in front of the stable where already in 2018 the remains of a harnessed horse had emerged.

An "exceptional find, not only because it adds extra elements to the history of this house, to the story of the last moments of life of those who lived in the villa, and more generally to ancient world’s knowledge, but above all because it’s a unique find, never before found in Italy, in excellent condition ".

Another extraordinary discovery took place in Pompeii during the excavations of Regio V. The archaeologists have brought to the surface a perfectly preserved Thermopylae with the image of a sea nymph on horseback and brightly colored animals. But what is surprising is that in the Thermopylae containers of traces of food sold on the streets were found.

In fact, it was Pompeian’s habit to eat hot food and drinks outdoors and this discovery could broaden the knowledge on the eating habits of the Roman age.

The venue has exceptional decorations, it is located in the clearing at the intersection of the vicolo delle Nozze d'Argento and the vicolo dei Balconi. In order to restore the complete configuration it was decided to extend the project and to complete the excavation of the entire environment so as to protect the entire context with an adequate restoration.
